Executive Director

Ken VanDyck started in Long Term Care in 2000 as a Regional Risk Manager for the Skilled Nursing Industry. He was responsible for the risk management programs for six 120 bed Skilled Nursing Facilities and was on the implementation team for the requirement for Risk Managers in Skilled Nursing. He then went on to gain his Nursing Home Administrator’s License in 2006. He has been an Administrator/Executive Director locally for skilled nursing facilities and Assisted Living Facilities to include Independent living and memory care from 107 to 420 beds. He has a knack for customer service, community marketing and statistics. Brevard County is Ken’s home and he has resided here for 46+ years. His strong community contacts affords him the ability to confidently connect the dots to the best possible outcomes with the best available resources.

Dorinda Drawdy is the Memory care Director at Discovery Villages at Melbourne. She is originally from Newburgh, NY. She has worked for over 16 years as an Instructional Assistant for Brevard County Schools. She started in the Assistant Living Industry as a Wellness Coordinator. She now is a CDP and core trained, she would like to continue her education in the Senior living industry and run a Facility one day.

Director of Recreation and Events

Brittany Carfley is a Recreation and Events Director at Discovery Village at Melbourne. She has a Bachelors in Social Work from SUNY Buffalo State College. Brittany made the move to Florida in 2015 where she soon began working at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex as an Educator. Realizing children and teaching was not where she saw herself long term, she began applying to roles in the Assisted Living industry. Brittany has been working with the senior population for a little over three years and believes she has found her calling. She has her Activities Director Certification and has also just completed the Assisted Living Facility Core Training. Brittany is studying and registered to take the CORE competency test this coming February. With this accomplishment, she hopes to one day become an Executive Director of a community.

Kari Day is a director of culinary services and chef. She is originally from Baltimore, MD, and has lived in Florida for 5 years. She is a very passionate, hard-working, and dedicated individual. She has worked primarily in the food and beverage industry in her career. She has a bachelor’s degree in psychology and worked for years with dual diagnosis adults; but her love for making others happy through food took the front seat. Her real passion is pastry. She is an avid gardener; enjoying the freshness that brings to her cooking and baking at home. She has a strong desire to help others and be the light in someone’s day. Kari is a widowed single mother of 4 and spends her free time with her family.
