He was quite advanced in age and had just suffered the loss of his wife of 65 years. However, much to my surprise he really flourished under the wonderful care of DV’s dedicated staff. We actually saw an improvement in my mom’s mood and livelihood after she moved in. My dad grew close with the staff visiting my mom daily and was always pleased with how everyone cared for her and looked out for her there. The staff keeps us updated regularly on how my mom is doing and we feel this is really the best place for her. It’s clean and welcoming and they have a lot of activities for residents to participate in should they be able to do so. After two hospitalizations in a short time I spoke to Marieewan Knaland, Director of Dining Services, about a low salt diet. They don’t offer that, but he was very supportive of my idea of not serving her high salt foods like. soups, ham, bacon, and sausage. Together we have kept mom out of the hospital and I’m very pleased with his follow through in looking out for my mom’s health. They keep you informed about your loved one and you actually have a conservation and discuss the best options if your loved one is having a problem. ALL the staff is very professional, caring and friendly.
