Tom Goshorn

Executive Director

Tom started his career in the Hotel industry as a Food & Beverage Director. He spent 10 years working in that field which led him to Senior Living. In 2002, he started working for Discovery Senior Living (previously Aston Care Systems & Discovery Management Group). Over the last 17 years with Discovery Senior Living, he has been a Culinary Director, Regional Culinary Director, Associate Executive Director, Regional Associate Director, and for the last 12 years an Executive Director. Tom has accomplished many things along the way and is most proud of creating a great work environment for his staff and ultimately, a great home for seniors. He was born and raised in Sarasota Florida, when he’s not working he loves spending time with his family and also loves surfing, boating, fishing, and golfing.

DVSB - Meet the Team - Facilities Operations Manager, Pat Brown

Pat Brown

Director of Facilities Operations

After graduating high school, Patrick went to work for a construction company, framing houses in Maryland where he hails from. After some time, he joined the United States Air Force, where he started his carrier as a front-line grill cook. Other positions around the world included, storeroom manager, dining facility manager, Alert Bomber and Tanker Facility Food Service Manager, Food Service Accountant, Quality Assurance Manager, Plans and Programs Manager for over 500 personnel under his command. As his carrier progressed, he was selected as one of two Non-Commissioned Officers in Charge of the accounting section, for the largest full food service contract in the Department Of Defense at Lakeland Air Force Base, Texas, with well over $12M in monthly inventory. Moving further, he was hand selected from over 5,000 personnel for the Air Forces premiere Ground Combat Instructor in Fort Dix, New Jersey, specializing in small unit tactics, hand to hand combat, Anti-Terrorism and convoy operations. Years later he was again hand selected for his last assignment, as Protocol Officer for Air Combat Command’s Commander, a Four Star General. Patrick, in his carrier, has been deployed, well over 13 years combined in austere deployments all around the world and has found the time to earn two degrees, Hotel Restaurant Management and Instructor in Technology and Military Science. Notable awards during his carrier in the Air Force include, Airmans Medal for Heroism, General Norman Leezy Services Award, Meritorious Service Medal, Multiple Commendation Medals, multiple Achievement Medals and Combat Action ribbon. Retiring from the Air Force, after 21+ years, he took a position with an assisted living facility, as the Environmental Service Manager in Virginia responsible for housekeeping and maintenance personnel. After moving to Florida, he was selected as the Service Coordinator then was promptly promoted to Service Manager with Associa’s On-Call division. He then came home as the Director of Facility Operations at Discovery Village at Sarasota Bay. He is married to the love of his life, Kelly, whom is also a retired Air Force Veteran and Patrick has one daughter, Justina, whom is employed at Navy Federal Credit Union in Virginia.

We invite you to meet Don White, Director of Celebrations, and learn more about the exciting events we have going on at Discovery Village At Sarasota Bay. Don holds a degree in Business Administration from Marshall University. He has been in Health Care for seven years and has held an array of positions including Transportation and Activities positions in the senior living industry. Don knows the most important part of his job is to have patience, a good sense of humor, and a great calendar filled with activities for a diverse array of residents. Don is married with one daughter who is attending the University of Florida, and he enjoys flying, boating and golf.
