Mark Shaffer

Executive Director

Mark Shaffer, Executive Director, grew up in Buffalo, NY. Sick of the cold weather, Mark headed west to UNLV, obtaining his Bachelor of Science in Hotel Administration, followed by a 20-year career in hospitality at the Hyatt Hotel Corporation. Personal life experiences drew Mark into health care, where he managed multiple assisted living and memory care communities. Mark is excited to join the team at Discovery Village At Dominion, where he will help to grow and evolve our community!

Angela Mattingly

Assistant Executive Director

Angela was born and raised in Houston, Texas and is the second oldest of five kids. She graduated with her Bachelors Degree in Music Therapy from University of the Incarnate Word and her Masters in Healthcare Administration from Texas Tech University. She has spent her career in various senior living leadership roles, including activities, sales and operations. Angela resides in Downtown San Antonio with her dog, Boerne and her cat, Wylie. In her free time she enjoys traveling, live music, exploring the hill country, and spending time with her friends and family.

Jodi Biewen

Senior Lifestyle Counselor, Independent Living

Jodi Biewen’s 16-year career in Senior Living has encompassed working in CCRC, Independent Living, Assisted Living and Memory Care. She started working in Activities, where she wrote two Word Gamebooks for seniors when she realized that activity materials were limited for that population. Her joy and passion for providing exceptional service to seniors led her to pursue Sales and Marketing within the industry. Using her extensive knowledge and compassionate understanding, Jodi has been a wonderful resource for seniors and their families, as they navigate the transition into their next home.

Hannah Calamae

SHINE® Memory Care Director

Hannah Calamae has worked in the senior living industry for nine years. She started
as a server at an Independent Living community in 2014 where she continued to work
for five years. During that time, she cross trained in many other positions giving her a
genuine appreciation for how a community must work together as a team to give their
residents the best quality of life possible. Since then, Hannah has also worked as a
caregiver in assisted living and served as the Assistant Wellness Director and Director
of Dementia Programs in Memory Care communities.

Hannah graduated from Texas State University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Psychology
and received her Master of Science in Dementia and Aging Studies from Texas State
University in May of 2022. Dementia care has a special place in Hannah’s heart; she
feels that as caregivers and families of people living with dementia, we must learn more about it and how to approach dementia care, so we can most help those who are affected.
Hannah spent the first ten years of her life growing up in West Yorkshire, England and moved to Houston, Texas in 2008. After starting at Texas State University, she met her husband, Sherman. They have been married for three years and like to spend their free time with their dogs at their ranch, spending time with family, or taking trips to experience different areas of Texas.

Roxanna Ramon

Senior Lifestyle Counselor, Assisted Living and Memory Care

Roxanna has worked in the senior living industry for over 16 years. The most rewarding part of what she does is the knowledge that she has the opportunity to touch other people’s lives and make a difference by assisting them on their personal journey with their loved ones. In her free time, Roxanna enjoys family gatherings, laughing, and reminiscing. She’s a proud four-time cancer survivor, a mother of two beautiful daughters, and is extremely blessed with 6 wonderful grandchildren that call her “Grammy.”

Susan Warriner

Director of Celebrations, Independent Living

Director of Celebrations Susan Warriner has more than 10 years of experience in the senior living field. Susan enjoys assisting senior residents to feel sincerely cared for and appreciated.

Prior to joining our team, Susan devoted 12 years in Civil Service while working with the Air Force along with 8 years in the private aircraft industry. She describes herself as readily available to both residents and fellow team members.

Robin Salinas, RN

Director of Health and Wellness

Director of Health and Wellness Robin Salinas is a registered nurse with a passion for her profession. She respects and loves working with nurses and welcomes folds to stop by her office to say ‘hi’ and share stories. Robin is a native San Antonian, and she and her husband share a blended family with three children and three grandchildren.

Diane Shehane

Director of Memory Care

Diane has spent her professional healthcare career serving others in many different capacities and earned her BA in Biology from Texas Lutheran. She carries a multi-state LVN nursing license issued by the State of Texas. Diane’s background and knowledge in so many facets of healthcare have helped set her firm foundation for resident advocacy.

Chef Scott Almy

Director of Culinary Services, Independent Living

Chef Scott Almy has been in the foodservice industry for over 40 years. Chef Scott is a graduate of Johnson and Wales University in Providence, RI and has gone on to have an impressive career, including opening EPCOT in Walt Disney World, FL in 1982, opening the Culinary Institute of Tuscany for the Olive Garden in Castalina, Italy, and is certified as an Executive Chef through the American Culinary Federation. Chef Scott has lived in nine different states in the US and has traveled all over Europe.

Eduardo Ramos

Chef Eduardo Ramos

Director of Culinary Services

Born in Mexico City, Chef Eduardo Ramos was raised in a family that loved cooking traditional and tasty food. When he was 18, he moved to New York City, and developed a passion for cooking by watching, helping, and learning alongside his beloved wife Ruth while working at world-renowned restaurants Le Cirque, Park Avenue Cafe, and Cipriani in New York.

In 2005, Chef Eduardo moved with his family to San Antonio where he joined Mariposa in Neiman Marcus as their first Executive Chef, establishing it as an acclaimed restaurant in San Antonio. In late summer of 2014, Chef Ramos opened his own business, offering guests his innovative interpretation of American Contemporary cuisine. As the executive chef and co-owner, Chef Eduardo continuously strived to build upon his vision of providing exemplary dishes and a comprehensive guest experience, while also encouraging a rewarding team environment for his staff. In his free time, Eduardo enjoys spending time with his wife, his dog, Brownie, and his two sons.

Ron Huerta

Director of Facility Operations, Assisted Living and Memory Care

Director of Facility Operations, Ron Huerta, manages all ongoing maintenance both inside and outside the residences and common areas of our Assisted Living and Memory Care community. In this role, he leads a team of specialists with a commitment to excellence in both quality and service.

A proud native of San Antonio, Texas, in Ron’s spare time, he and his wife love to travel the Texas Coastline and for fishing. Other interests include gardening, DIY projects, and the Discovery Channel.

Heidi Reidel

Business Office Manager, Independent Living

Heidi has worked the last 10 years in Business Administration, with a background in Oil & Gas. She’s been married to her husband since 2014, and stays busy with two small children, which they absolutely adore. They also share their home with a plethora of fun and interesting farm animals.
